April 19, 2007-I was all pumped as I sat down in front of the TV last night to watch the Seattle Mariners play the Minnesota Twins at Safeco Field. The main reason was because Felix Hernandez was making his third start of the 2007 season. King Felix was coming off his complete game shutout aginst Dice-K and the Boston Red Sox. But, something wasn’t right as Felix was leaving his pitches up and the Twins had loaded the bases due to some walks. He was kind of wincing in pain a bit. Almost immediately Mike Hargrove and the entire Mariners coaching staff called timeout and ran out to the mound to check on Hernandez. At that time, Hargrove pulled Felix out of the game. As it turns out, Felix had tightning of the elbow. I can see why the Mariners took him out of the game. He is their main guy (Besides Ichiro). Remember last years injury to Francisco Liriano? Or Mark Prior? The Mariners have got to be careful with this guy or he can eventually blow out his arm. So, it was a great decision to get him out of there. Meanwhile, the Twins won the game 5-4. But, the Mariners made it interesting in the ninth inning. Jose Vidro singled in Jose Lopez and Adrian Beltre was thrown out at homeplate trying to score the tying run. That ended the game as Minnesota won.

April 18, 2007-Felix Hernandez will make his third start of the young 2007 baseball season tonight against the Minnesota Twins at Safeco Field. Will he give up any runs against the good hitting Twins? He was dominating in his last start against the heavy-hitting Boston Red Sox last week as he shut them out, 3-0. Felix has not given up a run in 17 innings pitched. His ERA is 0.00. Simply amazing!! This kid is fun to watch!!

April 17, 2007-As great as Felix Hernandez has been, Mariners starter Jeff Weaver has been as bad as Felix is good. Weaver got shelled again tonight giving up 7 runs to the Minnesota Twins. Torri Hunter punctuated the spanking by hitting a grand slam off of Weaver. The Twins ended up with an 11-2 win at Safeco Field. Weaver sucks! I have no idea why the Mariners picked this guy up in the off season!!??

April 12, 2007-Just as expected the game tonight between the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners has been postponed due to bad weather. Now this makes five games that the Mariners have to make up during this young 2007 baseball season. The good news is that the Mariners are heading back home to Seattle. The Mariners start a three game series against the Texas Rangers beginning friday at Safeco Field.

April 11, 2007-This ball game was supposed to be all about the Boston Red Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka making his Fenway Park debut. He did pitch well. But, he didn’t pitch well enough as Seattle Mariners super phenon Felix Hernandez out pitched Dice-K as the Mariners won the game, 3-0. King Felix was simply masterful as he only allowed one hit and pitched a complete game. He took a no-hitter into the 8th inning. J.D. Drew led off the 8th with a single to break up the no-hitter. The Mariners infield helped out Felix too as Jose Lopez and Yuniesky Bettancourt make some diving plays. Felix is now 2-0 on the young 2007 season and the Mariners are 3-2.
The other big story about this ball game was the Daisuke Matsuzaka-Ichiro Suzuki matcup. Ichiro last batted against Matsuzaka way back in 1999 in Japan. Ichiro was 0-3 against Dice-K tonight. This was a great game! Because King Felix stole the show! Hopefully these two teams can play again tomorrow, because a huge storm is moving into Boston and the game may be cancelled. That’s what the broadcasters said on FSN Northwest during tonight’s ballgame. God, why can’t they start the baseball season in warm weather ball parks?!! The Mariners already have 4 games to make up against the Cleveland Indians because of bad weather earlier this week due to a snow storm that hit Cleveland . Keep your fingers crossed Mariners’ fans and hope the Mariners-Red Sox game can be played tomorrow.
